Apple unveils all-new iPad Air that resembles iPad Pro and costs only $599

Apple’s new iPad Air

Apple announced a new iPad Air today that looks remarkably similar to the company’s iPad Pro. It is a significant design change from the current iPad Air form factor, Previous Air model comes with thick bezels and a Touch ID button, but this new iPad Air comes with significantly thinner bezels all around the display.

The new Apple’s new iPad Air looks like a lite version of the iPad Pro design language, comes at a considerably lower price tag of $599.

Apple is deploying a much bigger 10.9 inch liquid retina display with 3.8 million pixels (2360 x 1640) on this new iPad air with lamination with an anti-reflective coating and true tone support. To allow the display to extend on all sides, a next-generation Touch ID sensor is integrated into the top button, making it the first iPad with biometrics built into the power button.

iPad Air gets massive boost in performance with some big changes in chipset, powered by A14 bionic chipset with six core CPU. Apple’s most powerful chip ever, promising a 40 percent performance improvement over the last iPad Air and improved graphics support, thanks to a new four-core GPU.

Apple also switched to USB-C for the iPad Air, much like the iPad Pro, and it will support 20W charging and 5Gbps data transfers. Wi-Fi 6 is also included, with optional LTE models promising 60 percent faster LTE connectivity.

iPad Air, includes a 7MP front-facing FaceTime HD camera and now features the same 12MP rear camera used in iPad Pro for higher resolution photos and 4K video capture. The new design of iPad Air features stereo speakers in landscape mode, with an overall enhanced audio experience.

This latest iPad Air will also support the (new) $129 Apple Pencil, which magnetically attaches to the tablet. Apple’s $299 Magic Keyboard accessory will also attach to this iPad Air, making this much more similar to Apple’s iPad Pro. The new iPad Air will also support Apple’s $179 Smart Keyboard Folio and new $79 Smart Folio covers.

Apple claims the new iPad Air will be available in October in five colors: silver, green, sky blue, space gray and rose gold priced from $599.
