Uber added a new feature “emergency button” for passengers’ safety to help passengers prevent sexual assault and violence-related incidents.

The new button is located at the option named Safety Center menu that can be seen at Uber’s home screen. This will help passengers to know how a driver should behave and information about the driving screening process, insurance protection, and community guidelines. The passenger can contact first the Uber’s customer service line and the company will send the location to 911 for assistance. It also has the option where the passenger can confirm the emergency event to the app and call 911 directly. This will help prevent accidents and Uber added that they will work out the improvement of the new button which will easily send the location of passengers directly to the police.

The emergency button or panic button is now available to all passengers in the US. Uber did not confirm when the new button will launch in other countries.
