Companies such as Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, Dell, Google and many others created the U.S. Technology Industry. These companies continue to lead the industry, making advances and creating new products driving the industry and the economy in the US and the world. According to the National Science Board, the worldwide technology industry grows at 4 times the rate of other manufacturing industries. The same study also claims that technology accounts for 27% of the gross national product for the United States. With such an impact on society and the economy, it remains important to self educate and stay informed about the changes and breakthroughs in the technology industry.
