According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 will feature a body temperature sensor. Gorman believes that instead of giving you an accurate reading, the watch can determine your maximum body temperature and then encourage you to talk to your doctor or use a thermometer. Gorman says the body temperature sensor has yet to undergo internal testing, and if it does, expect Apple to include the feature in the Series 8 watches, as well as “sturdy” smart watches for serious athletes. The next entry-level Apple Watch SE will not have this sensor.

Rumors of a new body temperature sensor have been circulating for more than a year. Gorman first alluded to the possibility in June 2021, then withdrew his prediction in January of this year. It was later replaced in April, noting that this year’s body temperature sensor is “expected”. Ming-C-Cuit supply analyst hopes the sensor will be presented later this year. Previous magazines Gorman and Wall Street Journal show that body temperature sensors can also be used to monitor fertility – a change in body temperature can help someone identify during pregnancy or when he wants to take a course. To get. Gorman only mentioned fever detection in his latest report, so it’s unclear how (or if) Apple plans to add cycle tracking capabilities.

Aside from the body temperature sensor, all other changes to the Apple Watch’s hardware will be “minor,” says Gorman, hinting at the possibility of improved displays in higher-end models. Gorman predicted last week that the 8-series processor will have the same performance as the previous S7 and S6 chips – we won’t see an update until 2023. As for health monitoring features in other upcoming devices, Gorman says the widespread suitability-focused new AirPods Pro model will not have a temperature or heart rate this year.
