Google recently rolled out its AI-powered Gmail Q&A feature for Android users, powered by Gemini. This new tool allows you to search your inbox with ease using AI. The feature, previously available on the web version, is now accessible to users on the Android app.
Getting Started with Gmail Q&A
To use Gmail Q&A, you first need to sign in with your Google Workspace account. Once logged in, you’ll find the Gemini icon—marked by a black star—located at the top-right of the Gmail app. Tap the icon to begin searching your inbox.
The AI-powered feature can help you find specific emails, locate unread messages, or even summarize long threads. If you’re inside an email thread and want a quick overview, you can tap on the “summarize this email” option. This is especially helpful for condensing long or complex conversations into easily digestible summaries.
How to Use Gmail Q&A for Precise Searches
One of the best aspects of the Gmail Q&A feature is its ability to handle vague or broad search queries. For example, you need to know, “How much did we spend on the last marketing event?”. You can simply ask this question. The AI will then scour your inbox to find the relevant information. It will not require you to scroll through countless emails manually. Currently, Gmail Q&A is limited to emails. But Google has plans to extend this functionality to include files and documents in Google Drive. This expansion will make it even easier to find critical information across various Google services.
To access this feature, you need to be subscribed to one of Google’s premium services, such as Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium. The rollout has already begun but may take up to 15 days to reach all Workspace users. Thus, the new Gmail Q&A feature offers a more efficient way to manage your inbox by retrieving crucial information faster than ever before.
