Instagram introduced “Active status” new feature to help users to see their active followers, who they follow or messages in direct conversations with were last active on the app.

Instagram users will have to click the Settings on the app and find the Activity Status to turn it on. When the user turns it off, they won’t be able to see active status of other accounts and vice-versa. If they can see a green dot on the profile picture of other accounts, it means that the account is online and available to chat while the most recent activity status is located below the username whether the user is Active 29m ago, Active yesterday, Seen, or Typing. The user has an ability to hide their status so that other accounts won’t be able to see it. This update is similar to Facebook Messenger.

The new update is available for both iOS and Android devices.
