Instagram is partnering with producers and musicians to help them rework music videos using the Reels format and has launched a series of 1 Minute Music pop-ups. A limited group of artists will unveil original music and music videos recorded during the pop-up, which is being held at the company’s Gurugram headquarters, as part of the program. Instagram will assist these artists with setup, videographers, and other aspects of the production of these one-minute films. The ensemble of the upcoming Bollywood film Jug Jug Jug Jiyo, which comprised stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, and Anil Kapoor, unveiled the first pop-up in the series. The ‘1 Minute Music’ has contextualized the pop-up, and it is, therefore, a part of it.
The short-form video genre has piqued the interest of both makers and viewers. “What we’ve seen in the music industry is that musicians are increasingly being found on Reels, and labels have begun to debut songs on Reels,” said Paras Sharma, Director, Content & Community Partnerships, Facebook India (Meta). Instagram’s Reels feature, which debuted in May of this year, includes the music “1 Minute Music.” This features a collection of music tracks and videos by over 200 musicians, including Dhvani Bhanushali, Neeti Mohan, Shaan, Himanshi Khurana, Anirudh, and GV Prakash Kumar, which are only available on the site. With visual material, the pop-up is now an attempt to push this music even further. “We’ll connect known artists with developing artists, bring in some of the top filmmakers, and assist in the creation of music video experiences,” Sharma continued. The firm intends to expand the pop-up idea to other locations and has stated that it would not limit itself to metro areas because the platform has benefited artists from all over the country.
