Last June 7, Uber applied a patent application in the US Patent & Trademark Office for the machine learning to forecast if the passenger was drunk or was under the influence of drugs.

The plan of the company is to have a computer-implemented method of data processing for detecting user’s state specifically at night. This would help drunken passengers to go home safely with Uber. The patent states that the app will have its new feature where it can detect if the passenger was drunk or in “unusual state” by the way they walk, talk, typos in using the app, and their behavior. Uber will plan to have a skilled driver which can understand and deal with a drunken passenger.

Uber will have its advantages if the application was approved. The prediction for the state of a user application by the company is published in the official website of US Patent & Trademark Office.
