WhatsApp will only display the selected wallpaper and chat bubble color on the smartphone of a user. This will be unlike chat themes on Instagram and Facebook Messenger. The instant messaging platform is currently developing a default chat theme feature. This will allow users to select from multiple color options for the wallpaper as well as the chat bubbles. WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo has spotted this new feature. It is in development on the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android.
WhatsApp Default Chat Theme Picker Feature in Development
Feature tracker WABetaInfo discovered a new setting on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.17.19. This allows users to pick a default chat theme on the instant messaging platform. As the feature is currently in development, it can’t be tested by users of the latest beta version of WhatsApp.
The feature tracker shared a screenshot which shows a new Chat theme setting on WhatsApp. This informs users that selecting one of the options will change both the color of the message and the wallpaper. Earlier this year, the feature tracker spotted the possibility of modifying chat bubble colors on iOS.
In the leaked image, you will not be able to see any themes, presumably because they are still in development. However, there are two options to customize the two elements. When you tap on ‘Message Color’ and ‘Wallpaper’, you can customize their chat theme.
WhatsApp Chat Theme Picker: How does it work?
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, you can change the chat theme for all chats by default. To do this, you can choose a chat bubble color and wallpaper in the new Chat theme menu. It is likely, but unclear whether users will also be able to select customized chat themes. WhatsApp will only display the selected wallpaper and chat bubble color on a user’s smartphone. This is in contrast to the chat themes on Facebook Messenger and Instagram.
