Xiaomi is launching three new smartphones today, one of which has a great new feature: a 1-inch camera sensor, which is relatively large for a smartphone. Everything is great about Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphone, the Mi 12S Ultra. The phone has a 6.73-inch OLED screen, the most advanced Snapdragon 8 Plus 1st generation SoC, and a rear camera lens-shaped notch that occupies a third of the rear panel. phone. Inside that synthetic lens are the phone’s three cameras: a 48MP ultra-wide camera, a 48MP telephoto lens with a 5x optical zoom (and not so good a “120x” digital zoom), and finally a 50MP main camera MP. which uses the same 1-inch sensor. A few different companies have already put 1-inch sensors on their phones, but it’s not very common – you’ll see 1-inch sensors on high-end cameras like the Sony RX100 series.

The larger sensor allows it to collect more light and take more detailed images. This doesn’t make the phone a digital SLR, but it could be higher than a regular smartphone camera. For example, the iPhone 13 Pro has a sensor size of 1.65 inches, reports DPreview. (For reference, the actual image area size of the sensor is smaller than its required measurement.)Xiaomi says the phone’s camera system was “co-developed with Leica,” and the company told Engadget that it shared the cost to develop the 1-inch image sensor with Sony. Sony actually released a phone late last year using a 1-inch sensor, though it only captured part of the sensor, while Xiaomi’s phone reportedly uses the whole thing. In addition to the camera, the Mi 12S Ultra has all the features of the main phone. It has IP68 protection against water and dust, a comprehensive 4,860mAh battery, 67W fast cable charge, and 120Hz screen refresh. The phone is also the first Android device capable of shooting in Dolby Vision HDR.

The 12S Ultra will first be launched in China. The model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage costs 5 999 RMB (about $ 900), while the advanced version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage costs 6 999 RMB (about $ 1,050 US dollars). In addition to the 12S Ultra, Xiaomi also offers two younger models: the 12S and 12S Pro. Both phones have a 1/1.28-inch main camera sensor, which is smaller than the Ultra but larger than a typical smartphone sensor. The 12S has a smaller 6.28-inch 120Hz display, while the 12S Pro has a 6.73-inch 120Hz OLED display. Both have the same first-generation Snapdragon 8 Plus chip. The 12S starts at 3,999 RMB ($ 600), while the 12S Pro starts at 4,699 RMB ($ 700).
