The Samsung Galaxy S9 launched earlier to positive reviews despite looking a bit too much like its predecessor, the S8. But one improvement made has caught DisplayMate’s attention.

The iPhone X had been awarded the highest rank, A+, in their screen test upon its release last year. Now the S9 has seemed to overthrow the iPhone by being given the “highest A+ rank” and also being named the best OLED screen on the market. The S9 was tested and exceeded expectations in terms of “absolute color accuracy, luminance shifts, peak display brightness, native color gamut, contrast ration, screen reflectance, contrast in ambient light, viewing-angle handling of brightness and color variation, and its 3K screen resolution”.

“almost certainly considerably better than your existing smartphone, living room 4K Ultra or HDTV, tablet, laptop, and computer monitor based on our detailed lab measurements,” DisplayMate’s Dr. Raymond Soneira writes.
