Flipkart has launched a new section called Flipkart Labs, which will use Blockchain-powered technologies like metaverse, NFTs, and others to try to come up with innovative solutions for the e-commerce business.
The new in-house project, known as Flipkart Labs, will “analyse, create, and learn” from new-age technologies in the e-commerce ecosystem. This will convert, at least for this year, into a concentration on Web3 and Metaverse commerce. “NFT-related use cases, Virtual Immersive Stores, Play to Earn, and other use-cases linked to Blockchain,” according to Flipkart.

Flipkart’s major goal is to disrupt the e-commerce sector as we know it today, using innovative technologies that are rapidly receiving public attention throughout the world. Flipkart Labs will “redefine e-commerce” and “improve the purchasing experience” for its consumers, according to the company’s announcement blog. It will accomplish so by nurturing innovative ideas and then providing game-changing solutions to the whole industry.

Flipkart Labs will be based in Bengaluru, India, and will handle all technical aspects of its operations. It will be located under the Flipkart Group’s Product Strategy & Deployment (PSD) division and will collaborate with the talent to develop technical solutions in this field. It will also look at possible collaborations with other brands outside of the firm and collaborate with various merchants, startups, and technologists.

Flipkart has a plan in place to investigate various blockchain technologies. It does not appear to want to create the next hit NFT series or a brand-new metaverse, based on its announcement. Flipkart Labs aims to mould these technologies around the company’s main e-commerce operation. This might lead to novel real-world applications, such as virtual stores, that provide customers with an immersive experience.

Flipkart Labs will also perform cutting-edge research in areas like customer experience, logistics, and supply chain. Through Flipkart Camera, it will also supplement Flipkart’s existing efforts to create 3D and augmented reality-based immersive shopping experiences.
