Amazon has now revealed the next versions of the Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids tablets, stating that they would feature “greater speed, performance, and battery life” than their predecessors, as well as the addition of USB-C to replace the antiquated Micro-USB connections. However, these promises of improvement come at a price, with costs in the UK increasing by £10 for each.

The new Fire 7 tablet features a 30 percent quicker 2.0GHz quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM, which is double that of its predecessor. The battery life has been increased by 40%, and it can be recharged using normal 5W USB-C charging.

Both the front and back cameras have a 2-megapixel resolution and can shoot 720p HD video. You can also use this device to access Alexa, Amazon’s voice-activated smart assistant, which you can ask to perform a range of activities, including playing movies and music, launching the Fire OS interface’s multitude of applications, and checking the weather.

This generation of Fire tablets, according to Amazon, contains 35 percent post-consumer recycled plastics, and 95 percent of its packaging is produced from wood fiber-based materials from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources. It comes in three colors: black, denim, and rose, and there are two storage choices (16GB or 32GB).

The Kids Edition of the aforementioned tablet, which comes with a new “kid-proof casing,” includes several extra features aimed at children aged 3 to 7, as well as their parents or caregivers. You’ll also get a one-year Amazon Kids+ membership, which includes age-appropriate fun and educational material from National Geographic and KeyStageFun. This subscription may be renewed at usual prices when the year is over, and you can use it on any compatible device in the meanwhile (including other Fire tablets, Fre TV, Kindle, Echo, iOS, Chromebook, or Android devices).
