Apple Inc. with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, will start production of upgraded processors for new iPhones.

Apple’s A12 is the new processor that is a 7-nanometer design and is faster and more efficient than the old version which is A11 Bionic and Qualcomm’s 845 with 10-nanometer design, according to Bloomberg. This updated processor will help the phone run apps with high speed and has longer battery life.

The productions of the chips have started yesterday and will be launched by this year. Both Apple and TSMC did not give further information about the specific partnership. Aside from that, Apple will be the first company that will have the upgraded chip for the devices.
