Apple to introduce a Passwords App at WWDC 2024

Apple will reportedly unveil Apple’s password app at WorldWide Developers Conference 2024. The passwords app will be introduced for iOS 18, iPad iOS 18 and Mac OS 15 to keep track of user login credentials.

When will the app be unveiled?

According to a report, the tech giant will reportedly launch a new app meant for managing passwords when it hosts the WorldWide Developers Conference 2024 on June 10. The report states that Apple might be introducing this new password saving and tracking app for the iOS 18, iPad iOS 18 and Mac OS 15 to help users keep track of their login credentials. The app is said to be powered by the iCloud keychain which is the native service that syncs passwords and account information across the devices of Apple.

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant will announce the debut of the new app during the keynote session of the worldwide developers conference. The report claims that the passwords app will be able to save and keep a track of the passwords of users. It will also be able to generate new passwords.

This app will be powered by the iCloud keychain, as claimed by the report. iCloud keychain is a service that syncs passwords and user account credentials across Apple devices. However the service can only be accessed through the settings app or when I user tries to log into an account. This new password app will likely offer a front end for the feature to the users. It will also offer more control over the functionalities.

The passwords app might feature authenticator functionalities as well. This name that it can be used to set up two factor authentication with support for verification codes. It will also be able to categorize the credentials of the users into different categories such as Wi-Fi networks accounts and passkeys.
