A new WhatsApp scam is being used by cybercriminals to take advantage of the excitement over the impending opening of the Ram Mandir. Promises of free VIP admission to the Ayodhya shrine on January 22 are being used by con artists to trick gullible people. An apparently innocuous APK (Android Application Package) file called “Ram Janmabhoomi Grihsampark Abhiyan.APK” is attached to the supposedly harmless mails that comprise the fraud. On the other hand, those who fall for this fraudulent effort face serious risks.

The Alluring Offer: VIP Access to the Ram Mandir Unveiling

Scammers are using clever ploys where they are offering customers VIP entrance to the Ram Mandir inauguration in exchange for SMS. According to the first notification, downloading an APK file is necessary in order to receive VIP access.

The Perilous Payload: The Dangers of Downloading Phishing APKs

When people give in to the temptation and download a possibly hazardous APK file, the fraud takes a risky turn. Once loaded, these files can open the door to a wide range of dangers, from tracking the position of devices and eavesdropping on user activity to stealing financial and personal data.

Be alert to prevent being a victim.

People should use caution and not download any files or click on websites that offer VIP access to the Ram Mandir. Such schemes are not connected to the state, the federal government, or the temple trust. The strongest protection against increasing cyber risks continue to include being alert, reporting suspicious activity, and avoiding interaction with unfamiliar connections.
