Beginning in 2023, one of the most well-known video game franchises in the world will experience a huge transformation. Electronic Arts (EA) and its subsidiary EA Sports have announced their departure from FIFA. EA will continue to produce popular football games, but they will no longer feature the FIFA logo. EA Sports FC will be the name of the new game series.

“After over 30 years of delivering genre-defining interactive football experiences, we will shortly embark on an exciting new chapter,” stated Cam Weber, EVP, Group GM, EA Sports & Racing. “This new autonomous platform will open up new possibilities for innovation, creation, and evolution.”. This is much more than a logo update – as EA SPORTS, we’re committed to making EA SPORTS FC a symbol of change,” says the company. Weber continued.

In 1993, EA Sports produced the first FIFA game which immediately attracted the attention of the gamers. Over the years it managed to retain its popularity.  It grew into one of the most popular gaming series of all time, with “more than 150 million admirers” throughout the world, according to Weber.

Despite the fact that the FIFA logo will no longer appear in EA Sports football games, the gameplay and overall experience will be unaffected. This is due to EA’s different license agreements with the English, Spanish, Italian, German, and American football leagues, as well as the European soccer organization UEFA. According to Weber, the sport has around 300 license partners.

The above statement implies that teams and player likeness — one of the games’ most distinctive features — will remain unchanged. “Everything you love about our games will be included in EA SPORTS FC, including the same fantastic experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs, and athletes.” Weber stated, “Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and VOLTA Football will all be available.”
