Google has started rolling out Android cross-device services on supported devices. The feature allows a user to switch between devices while using certain apps or performing certain tasks. Users will first need to enable cross-device service to access these features. The company has also revealed that more features will be rolled out in the future.
Cross-Device Services Rolling Out for Android Users
In an Android support page, Google announced the roll out of the cross-device service stating that call casting lets you, “Cast video calls from your device to another device with the same Google Account. If you turn this off, your other devices can’t cast calls to your device. When turned on, your other devices can cast video calls to the device that you’re using,” and internet sharing lets you to, “Share internet access between devices with the same Google Account. If you turn this off, your other devices can’t use your device for internet access. When turned on, your other devices can get internet access from the device that you’re using. For example, they can turn on and connect to your hotspot with instant hotspot.”
An important point that is to be noted is – Cross-device services only work between devices signed in to the same Google Account. Besides, Cross-device services are not available on Android Go devices. When cross-device services are enabled, you can turn on your phone’s hotspot from your other nearby devices. You will also be able to switch between devices on video calls in apps like Google Meet and Gmail.
