App developers’ new verification of political campaign ads will be approved according to the policies made by Google in the US.

Developers that want to advertise a running candidate in incoming election in the US will provide their government-issued ID, the Federal Election Commission identification number and IRS Employer Identification number. The running candidate will have to prove if they are US citizens or permanent residents.

By the end of May, advertisers can process their political campaign ads because Google will enforce the new rules on July 10. Requirements will apply to the candidates in election for federal office or current officeholders in the US. Ads that will be advertised in Google are only for the candidate and not to the current related political issues. Google added that they continuing work to increase the transparency of election advertising, to improve the security of the candidates, and to avoid misinformation of the campaigns.
