After removing the GIPHY sticker option due to a racial slur found in its library, Instagram is now bringing back the feature to the app. But with the return of GIPHY, Instagram promises stricter moderation on their stickers. According to TechCrunch, GIPHY “reviewed its library four times and will preemptively review any new GIFs it adds”.
A spokesperson from Instagram spoke to the news site, saying “We’ve been in close contact with GIPHY throughout this process and we’re confident that they have put measures in place to ensure that Instagram users have a good experience”.
Snapchat, who previously used GIPHY and also removed the feature upon discovering the offensive image, has yet to even comment regarding bringing back the GIF library into the app.
