There have been rumours about the incoming of an iPhone with titanium chassis, and this has been circulating since before we got our hands on iPhone 14. They kind of died down with iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max as we didn’t witness any such claims. But it’s time the rumours were held to light with the least iPhone 15 Pro models which are tougher than their predecessors. With what we have come to hear recently, from reliable tipsters this rumour has been resurfacing and it’s believed by many that iPhone 15 pro models may indeed showcase it edged made out of titanium over stainless steel.

Although the stainless steel edges with smooth sides originally introduced with the iPhone 12 Pro seem to be really attractive — at least to the hands, — titanium has the advantage of being both stronger and lighter than its iron and carbon alloy counterparts. So in principle, if the titanium edges rumours finally come to fruition, we might have at least two iPhone 15 Pro variants that are tougher yet weigh less than their predecessors.

iPhone 15 leaks: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra to get titanium body, no physical buttonsYet the durability of titanium is more essential. Titanium, which is three to four times stronger than stainless steel, might be the key to significantly tougher iPhone sides. Some people opt to not use a case with their smartphone, as they like to be able to appreciate the industrial design of such products rather than wrap them in a lump of rubber or plastic. For those who are a bit clumsy, this can be a problem as surely their iPhones have hit the deck a few times.

Even if one is using Ceramic Sheild glass to protect their display, even though it can weather all kinds of impacts and drops, the stainless steel nevertheless gets chipped and endure scratches as they are not so robust. Even if one believes in having a few wears and tears in a gadget gives it ‘personality’ most will be not pleased with this line of thought and neither is it very practical. The roughness of a gadget with prolonged wear and tear doesn’t leave a pleasant sensation in one’s hands and neither can it be good for the internals of a phone which is known for being delicate!

One can only hope for the titanium-edged iPhone 15 Pro will make an appearance and it won’t just be a pointless rumour like a child’s pipe dream.
