JioCinema seems to be gearing up to launch an ad free subscription to complete with Netflix and other streaming services.

JioCinema hints at “new plan”

JioCinema could reportedly roll out an ad free subscription plan for its users. The “new plan” has been teased by the Indian streaming platform on social media with a video that hinted at an ad free subscription that is on the way.

The streaming platform has tweeted on X/Twitter, “Change is constant, but your plan doesn’t have to be. A new plan. Coming April 25th.” However, the company has not shared further details regarding the same but we are expecting to learn about them today.

JioCinema’s current Premium Plan that is available as of now

As of now, JioCinema has only one “Premium” plan that will require you to pay Rs 999 annually or Rs 99 monthly. However, you still have to face annoying ad breaks which interrupt your binge sessions even after paying for the Premium plan.

The Premium plan present currently allows you to successfully have access to premium content. Starting from biggies like HBO to Peacock, it had got everything covered. You can stream the content on up to 4 devices. The quality of the audio and video is both top notch. However, the main concern has been free live sports streaming. Tonnes of users have been coming in to catch the IPL cricket action gratis (albeit peppered with ads).

JioCinema is different from Netflix based on the aspect that Netflix is entirely a paid streaming platform; on the other hand, JioCinema utilizes a freemium approach. The free tier of JioCinema allows you to stream regional movies and shows completely free of cost. This tier gets its profit from ad revenues. The premium tier offers international shows and content and you will need a paid subscription to unlock them.
