On August 15, 2022, Ola Electric will introduce India’s “greenest electric vehicle.” As per the reports, the “greenest EV” might be a new electric scooter. However, Ola Electric may have chosen alternative materials for the battery pack. It’s done in order to give the new electric scooter the title of “greenest EV.”

Another strategy would involve choosing solar or wind energy to meet the majority of the energy requirements. Whatever the case may be, on August 15, we’ll find out. However, here is a teaser for the upcoming official unveiling that Ola Electric has provided.

A low-cost Ola S1 model that has an appealing look

The Ola S1 line-up is most likely the basis for the new electric scooter, as the teaser suggests. However, we anticipate a low-cost product that will cost around Rs. 1 lakh and act as an entry-level variation. The sub-Rs. 1 lakh segment is dominated by brands like Hero Electric and Okinawa, accounts for the majority of India’s electric scooter sales. However, the right volume booster might just be a low-cost Ola S1 model. It comes with an appealing look, a respectably potent electric motor, and a battery pack. It ensures 80-100 km of real range.

Ola Electric’s scooter sales have been declining

The previous several months have seen a drop in Ola Electric’s scooter sales. Slowing sales will be expensive for Ola Electric because its expansive 500-acre factory has the capacity to produce 1 mn electric scooters annually.  There is a temporary production halt. Additionally, Ola Electric is considering to reduce its workforce as a way to better match supply with demand.

A new, low-cost electric scooter focused squarely at snagging large volumes would offer Ola Electric and its manufacturing  plant a substantial boost in these difficult times. Currently, a 3.97 kWh battery pack powers an electric motor that produces 11 Bhp-58 Nm in the Ola S1 Pro. A segment best 181 km is the best range. However, the less expensive Ola S1’s production is on hold indefinitely. There is definitely room for a budget-friendly option, which is what we might see on August 15.
