According to TechCrunch, Instagram, part of the “Meta” universe, is testing a new feature that allows users to pin certain posts to their profile above their photo grid. The new function is now under beta testing and is only available to a small number of users on the platform. Users with access to the functionality will see a “Pin to your profile” option in the three-dot menu next to postings, which they can choose from.

Users may currently pin Stories to their profiles, but this new functionality would broaden this to include posts. Although you can now highlight a post in a Story and then pin it to your profile, this new feature allows you to do more as it would make the process much simpler and more uncomplicated. The tool is similar to Twitter’s “Pin to your profile” feature, which allows you to pin a tweet to the top of your personal feed.

In an email to TechCrunch, a Meta spokeswoman said, “We’re testing a new tool that allows people to feature posts on their profile.”

Users who wish to highlight their favourite posts that may have been buried farther down in their photo grid may find the ability to pin a specific post to their profile a pleasant tool. Creators who write frequently but wish to promote a single post might find the functionality handy.

Alessandro Paluzzi, a reverse engineer, discovered the feature in January 2022 and tweeted a screenshot. Instagram appears to have been working on the functionality for some time. For testing purposes, Instagram has recently deleted the ‘Recent’ tab from hashtag pages.
