Unicode plans to have a new emoji for next year

Unicode posted in a blog post their upcoming emoji candidates which made during the Unicode Technical Committee (UTC) meeting.

The next emoji is said to have 179 draft candidates with 61 more characters plus variants for Emoji 12.0. The upcoming emoji will have different genders, couples with different types of skin tones, services, and disabilities. The candidates will review and finalize by the committees in the next meeting of UTC on September. The samples of the emoji are representing a deaf person, safety vest or they called service dog, estimated 55 combinations of skin tone and gender, and a couple holding hands. The company will also arrange and change some various characters they will make.

Unicode is planning to add more emoji for 2020 such as ninja, military helmet, mammoth, feather, dodo, magic wand, carpentry saw, and screw driver. The company has not yet announced the exact release date of the update.
