WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to share files without internet. Just like Airdrop of Apple and Quick Share of Android, WhatsApp is currently working on a feature that will allow tranfer of files without the use of mobile data.

Share files without internet on WhatsApp

This feature is supposed to allow users to share files without having them to access  an active internet connection. Just like Airdrop of Apple and Google’s Nearby Share functionality, users will now be able to send files such as photos, videos, documents and other files on WhatsApp without eating up their daily mobile data limit.

This feature was first spotted by the WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo earlier this year in January. It was noticed by the feature tracker that the instant messaging platform was testing this functionality on Android. However, a recent report by the publication hints that the developers of WhatsApp are currently working on this feature to make it accessible for the iOS powered devices as well.

The report also mentions that this new feature of WhatsApp is currently under development. However there is a possibility that the offline file sharing feature will find its way into a future version of the app. Besides the way this feature will be implemented on iOS powered devices seems to be a bit different than the Android version because users will need to scan a QR code in order to initiate the transfer process of the file. Also if you want to send larger files which exceed the 2GB size limit, this feature will be very useful for you.
