According to reports, WhatsApp is working on a new layout for status updates which will include a feature that will allow users to preview the status update before sending it, without opening them. This feature has been recently introduced in the latest Whatsapp Beta update for Android.

WhatsApp tests a new layout for status updates

According to the details shared by a feature tracker WABetaInfo , the instant messaging platform is testing out a new layout for the status updates page for Android. Users on Android and IOS smartphones might be able to access the new interface in the future. The report states that this new layout for status updates will be ruling out with WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.12.20. Some beta testers already had access to this change on an earlier version but with the latest update this has been made available to a greater number of users.

On a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, one can see that a new and larger thumbnail for status updates has been introduced replacing the existing smaller circular window. Users are expected to be able to get a glimpse of the status update or preview the status update from the thumbnail itself without having to open them, before sending the status update finally. The placement has not been changed according to the feature tracker because it still remains pinned at the top of the screen below the search bar.

With the update the Find Channels option, which is currently present at the end of the status update page, has been modified and as a result has a horizontal orientation.
