Xiaomi’s laptops are no longer available for purchase, both online and offline, leading to speculations about the company’s departure from the Indian laptop market. A tipster, Abhishek Yadav, noticed that Xiaomi’s notebooks were missing from its official website, Amazon, or Flipkart.

Upon further investigation, it became evident that Xiaomi has made a significant change on its website. The ‘Laptop & Tablet’ tab has been replaced by just ‘Tablet.’ If you search for Mi notebooks, you will find an empty cart. Even Google searches lead only to a ‘Notify Me’ section, indicating that the laptops are out of stock. While products running out of stock is not uncommon, the lack of any restocking information is peculiar.

There is a possibility that Xiaomi may restock their laptops, but if they don’t, the question is why? Why would Xiaomi want to exit the laptop market in India? In the smartphone market, Xiaomi is a heavyweight, securing the third position in India with 25.1 million units sold in 2023, claiming a 17% market share. However, the laptop market has a different story. Xiaomi doesn’t even make it to the top 5 in the Indian laptop market. HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus hold the fort, leaving no room for Xiaomi, at least not in the top rankings.

It’s important to note that Xiaomi’s exit from the laptop market in India is not yet confirmed. However, the lack of restocking information and the absence of Xiaomi’s laptops from the top rankings in the Indian laptop market raise questions about the company’s future in this space. We will have to wait and see what Xiaomi’s next move is.
