Previously WhatsApp allowed the users to pin only one message on the messaging platform. However, with the new WhatsApp upgrade there has been an increase in the limit of the number of messages that one can pin. Now lets its users pin up to three messages per chat.
What is the pin option?
The pin option on WhatsApp lets the users prioritize specific messages within a chat. When a specific message is pinned by you, it will be visible to everyone in the chat. This highlights the importance of the pinned text. It is quite the same for a pinned message on a WhatsApp group chat. Whenever a group member pins a message, it will be visible to every single member of the group right at the top of the group whenever they open it.
How can you pin a message on WhatsApp?
To pin a message on WhatsApp, you just have to follow a simple process. This process can be achieved by long- pressing on a message – may it be a text, image, video, audio or a sticker. You can also choose the duration for which the pin will last. The options available for the same include 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days.
You can unpin the pinned messages anytime and they are displayed prominently beneath the user’s name in the chat.
If you want to highlight more than three messages per chat, you have the star option available. There is no limit to the number of chats that can be starred, unlike pinning messages. Apart from pinning messages, users can pin up to three chats to the top of the WhatsApp chat box. However, the feature is currently limited to beta testers and a wider roll out is expected in the coming days.
