Snapchat has just released an Instagram-esque @-tag feature to make interactions between users easier. They’ve added a new option where you type a username on your Story, and those viewing it can tap on the username that leads to a new menu with the tagged person’s info and the option to follow them. Users will also be notified whenever they are tagged in a story. The company confirmed to TechCrunch they were still testing out the new feature.

This is a change as Instagram is the one usually “borrowing” off of Snapchat, blatantly copying their Stories and filters and adding them to their Messenger app. Given how rough this year’s first couple of months have been for them, in addition to recently laying off over a hundred of their engineers, it might be a welcome change.
