Baidu launches its autonomous mini-bus in Japan

By next year, Baidu will launch the Apollo autonomous driving in Japan and in selected cities in China.

Yesterday, at Create Baidu, an annual AI developer conference, the company announced about the partnership with Softbank subsidiary SB Drive and manufacturer King Long for the project. This project is the first exported order buses from China to Japan. It is estimated 10 order buses for now and still manufacturing. King Long production is located in southeastern Fujian province in China. The company confirmed that the co-developer King Long begins a mass producing of minibuses.  It is the preparation for both airports and tourist places which are Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Xiong’an, the new megacity in China.

Baidu is planning to launch Apollo autonomous bus service in China’s cities such as Pingtan and Wuhan. The company has not yet announced the release date of the project.
